Brook Fine Arts Academy

Everyone Great Has a Beginning

Brook Fine Arts Academy is one of the best fine arts schools in the Tulsa O.K. area. It has a 30 year track record of teaching many forms of art including music, drawing, painting, and clay. People come every week to receive professional instruction so that they can peruse their artistic dreams. BFAA has one mission founded on one belief, and that is to share the arts with as many people as possible because everyone great has a beginning. However, BFAA took a major hit in student enrollment by almost 50% when COVID swept through the nation.

Where does Cynosure Digital come in? Help increase student sign-ups by improving user experience and user journey on their website and increase their brands exposure and awareness all in an effort to recover from COVID and surpass where BFAA was before.

We had to update the digital brand in a way that kept it recognizable, but also fixed the key issues BFAA and its customers were experiencing.

Challange

Increase student sign-ups and brand awareness.

Result

Cynosure Digital helped Brook Fine Arts Academy launch into the digital era post COVID by creating a site that consistently ranks number one on Google, drives more leads, and converts those leads.

VIEW LIVE SITE

One of the main problems with the old Brook site was that it was extremely dated:

Brook Site Before Redesign

We had to update a website that was built in the mid 2000's.

The first thing we did was find out what the number one purpose of the site needed to be. It needed to drive more student sign-ups. In response to that need, we styled the majority of the home page around funneling people to the lessons pages and that would funnel to the contact page.

Second, it was obvious that the site needed to look good, so we decided on a sophisticated yet fun and artsy style by using engaging interactions that kept things interesting but weren't over the top, and by incorporating whites and soft grays as the main colors with the Brook Red and black as accent colors.

Features

Fine Arts Blog

As an expert in the fine arts, BFAA wanted to share their information and increase their brand awareness by starting a blog that is designed to be simple to use and encourage people to read more articles.

Teachers

One problem that BFAA was experiencing was that students had no idea who they were going to take from until they signed up. In an effort to bridge the gap a bit, we added a fun and interactive page to show off the teachers at BFAA.

BFAA Shop

They wanted to be able to post the art work of their teachers and other local artists who want to sell through BFAA. This means that the name of each artist had to be attached to their work. This ended up being no problem at all and looked great!

Events

BFAA wanted to be able to post upcoming events of different categories including choir, art shows, recitals, etc. These events then needed to be posted on the home page inside of a slider. It took some effort, but the end result was wounderful.

Challenges

BFAA Challenge 2

The second challenge we ran into was that, for a time, all of their lessons were online. Teachers were using several different platforms including Skype, Zoom, and Google Duo. In an effort to help people more smoothly use those platforms, we had included instructions, videos, and links to their respective support pages so that students will always haver their questions answered.

BFAA Challenge 1

The first challenge that we ran into was simply that their site is massive. With over 43 pages in total, this site was intimidating to say the least. However, through several months of planing, designing, and developing, we were able to get this site going.

Let's Talk Mobile

Images

In order to help pages to load faster, we made sure to optimize the images for mobile so that they are much small file sizes.

Checkout

The checkout process for art and music had to be optimized for mobile. This is to make it more enjoyable for people to browse and purchase products.

Animations

There were a number of animations that look great on desktop, but end up cluttering up the mobile interface. We had to remove a few of the animations to keep the mobile interface clean.
